Increase Business Revenue, Thinking1
“I think, therefore I AM” – Descartes Increasing business and personal results is an internal process. Up-skilling to ‘higher-end subtle skills’ has more to do with internal awareness (consciousness) than external factors. In general the business market uses ‘average hard-skills’; essentially these are the common-place skills you find with most successful and semi-successful companies. This presents a major problem in that many are using the same skills and strategies which don’t allow one company to stand out from another. The end result; products and services become ‘commoditized’ and ‘price’ becomes the customer choice. It’s very easy to miss that point and blame the market. Standing apart requires the development of ‘higher-end subtle skills’, the skills that the average market doesn’t know or use. Take a closer look at the top management of many highly successful companies and you’ll see these skills in action. Where do you start? The first step always comes with developing our awareness of these skills, where they come from, and how they’re used. Visit an exceptional/great business and take careful note of what you consider their exceptional servicing; why is it exceptional, what makes it exceptional, how do they make it that way, how do you feel as a customer? Etc. Then go back and revisit your new insights against your existing business model, methods and ideas. For many this can be a very profitable exercise, and one that should be undertaken on a regular basis. Best results are attained if you can ‘detach’ from your business, both when visiting an exceptional business, and when evaluating your own in comparison. “Never forget, seeking has finding” -Troward
